Award winning songwriter, Liz Mandville Greeson, was recently voted one of the top three blues singers in Chicago. Not bad for a diminutive redhead who hails from Wauwatosa Wisconsin.

Having delighted audiences here and abroad for many years, Liz recently garnered the coveted Blue Monday gig at the world famous Kingston Mines nightclub in Chicago, the blues capital of the world and Liz’s home base for over 20 years. Liz spent 5 years in residence at Blue Chicago and has been a featured artist at major blues venues from Seattle to New York City, from Key West to Fargo N.D.

Her three, critically acclaimed CD’s, all released on the Earwig Music Co. Label, showcase Liz’s stellar vocal prowess as well as her versatility as a producer, arranger, guitarist and song-crafter. All forty songs on Liz’s CD’s are self-penned. Liz won the 2005 USA Songwriting contest for her comedy/novelty song, “He Left It In His Other Pants” which she recorded on her 2000 Earwig CD release READY TO CHEAT. The CD was nominated “Best Blues CD of the Year” by the Chicago Music Awards, as was the 2002 follow up release, BACK IN LOVE AGAIN.

A tireless road warrior, Liz can often be seen fronting her own band, The Blue Points. She also performs as a guest artist and has appeared with a who’s who of Blues Luminaries, (such as her 2002 European tour with Robert Cray & Honey Boy Edwards) while maintaining a rigorous schedule of solo performances as well.

Her repertoire runs the gamut of blues styles that reflect her intensive study of blues history that resulted in a BA in Music in 1996 from Columbia College, Chicago.

Using her guitar and her intimate knowledge of blues lore, Liz has become a popular lecturer. Bridging the gap between musician and layman Liz illuminates the mysteries of songwriting, women’s place in blues, and relationships between popular genres of American music.

The is also a published author writing non-fiction articles and ghost stories. Her short story “The Ghost In The Attic” was published in Twilight Tales Press anthology SPOOKS.

With a sense of humor that shines through her sometimes bawdy, always informative stage patter, Liz is a consummate entertainer, not to be missed.
